Call to order By President Aaron Peterman at 12:58 pm, CST. 

Moment of silence 

Roll call:  

All present except Past President Jose Bosque, VP Southeast Andy Wieman, and Alternate Trustee Ryan Back. 

Treasurer Report:   

Currently $24,989.70, this includes travel for this meeting. Motion to accept Treasurer report made by Ron Bowling seconded by James Nichols. 

Secretary Report:  

Motion made to wave reading of the last meeting made by Chad Whitaker seconded by Cory Bowling. Currently 281 members. Region held 26 mini certifications in 2023. Palm Beach County S.O. is seeking to certify 20 Therapy Canines in the near future, we have already certified three. Discussion on the Region computer sometimes having problems with the scoring programs. Chad Whitaker thinks it’s more the software issue than our computer. We have the latest version available. Mentioned a “Civilian Protection Certification”. The email was read and fell on deaf ears. No discussion on getting involved with this program. 

Report of Officers: 

Roy Parker, Judges Committee: Wants to go back to 15 Judges at our Regional. Motion made by Ron Bowling and seconded by Todd Hays, passed.  Roy was concerned about the number of narcotics judges as opposed to P.D.1. Chad Whitaker mentioned making a new page on the website listing all the mini certifications. 

Chad Whitaker: Made a motion to increase the “start-up” account for our Regionals from $1,000.00 to $2,500.00. Seconded by Jim Nichols. 

VP Central Cory Bowling advised there is going to be an increase in membership for Central Florida. 

Ron Bowling asked for approval for Palm Beach S.O. to certify three Therapy dogs on March 20. Approved. 

New Business:  

Lakeland P.D. is moving forward with our 2025 Regional. 

President Peterman brought up School Resource Association is wanting to put gun dogs in every school. President Peterman is going to do a presentation to them in the near future. 

Cory Bowling made a motion to pay our President same as the Secretary seconded from Ron Bowling.

SPECIAL EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING 

May 22, 2024 

Region President Aaron Peterman called a special meeting of the Executive Board on 5-22-24, at 3:42 pm via mass text messages. The purpose of this meeting was to vote on the removal of James Morris Jr. from the USPCA Region 1 Field Trial account. In preparation for the upcoming 2025 USPCA Region 1 Field Trials hosted by the Lakeland Police Department, members voted to add Cory Bowling, Morgan Mumbauer-Bardwell, and Sean Finney to the account as signatures. 

All members of the Board with the exception of Alternate Trustee Ryan Back voted in the affirmative. The motion passed.
